A Dark Side To Rapunzel

Writer's picture: Ashna TibrewalAshna Tibrewal

Fast forward the time in Rapunzel to 2020. Rapunzel’s mother understands the pain of being locked up for the first time. After years of being locked in her house, she became an artist. Her years passed with painting walls with scenery peeking from her windows- the cityscape, the ever-changing sky, and the birds. With Spotify premium blasting through her speakers, she danced across the rooms with her pet lizard. She played the piano with the moonlight spraying across the room. During the pandemic, she came across the ancient art of poison-making and decided to twirl into it. She learned about the Deadly Nightshade, Poison Hemlock, Strychnine, Arsenic, and Lead. She knows lead is a paint ingredient. She researched lead poisoning from paint and evidence supporting Vincent Van Gough having lead poisoning because of his habit of licking his paintbrush. Rapunzel looked at her mother, and an evil thought rooted. She calculated the amount of lead in the paint and added some to her tea. Symptoms came with the passing days of her mother naively relaxing in her poisoned tea. With the fear of covid, her mother isolated herself in her room and slipped to death with Rapunzel painting her door.

Random Thought- I think Rapunzel was painting the magical flower but with dark colours surrounded by fairy lights in the end. What do you think she was painting?
